Thing #2 – Digital Storytelling & Presentation Tools

March 18, 2012

I am playing catch up in a big way – I have sadly let my Cool Tools sit on the back burner for far too long.

One of the best courses I took during my MLS program was a technology course that was taught by a school librarian.  The class involved hard work, but it also gave me some exposure to all sorts of Web 2.0 tools.  Among these was Storybird, which I worked on with a partner for one of our assignments.  As part of this assignment, we created a wiki page, as well as creating an actual Storybird book and a tutorial on how to use the website.

I also created a biographical VoiceThread to introduce myself to class members.  Because of all the different ways to enter and interact with content, VoiceThread would allow for differentiation for individual student needs.

Although I am familiar with a few of these technologies, my goal is to explore the new ones and create some kind of virtual tour of my library.  I have a few students that I am enlisting to help me, so we’ll see how it goes.  I will post the link as soon as it’s ready.

Love the idea of using storybird to create an alphabet book! But your storybird is marked as private. Wish I could see it, would love to show it as an example.

Polly – I’m sorry, I thought that book was public. I just changed it, it should work now. Thanks ~ Maureen
