A library without the books – The Boston Globe

Posted using ShareThis

An interesting article that raises alot of questions. I am getting some personal experience along these lines, as one of my classes this semester has all the required readings available to read online, free of charge. While I’m grateful to not have to purchase textbooks, I’m not sure if I enjoy reading an entire book from a screen. I can testify that it is just as easy to fall asleep reading your laptop as it is to fall asleep reading a paper & ink book.

I find it ironic that while the school claims to be encouraging students to read, the books are being replaced by 3 large screen tv’s and computer stations. I’m not disputing the value of tv’s or computers, but I find their actions and their words somewhat disconnected.
